The majority of us are accustomed to not taking responsibility for the culture. It has grown so large and overwhelming, hy7perconnected and superflat (using Takashi Murakami's terms), that life tempts us into a passive understaning of cultural and political events, as if we don't have a say in what goes on in the world.
We pass blame from ourselves onto visible scapegoats - the media, our politicians - as if they weren'ta part of the collective body that also defines us.
I have a near debilitating, over developed sense of irony. I try to defuse it through my art, to align my work with a romantic sense of trust, in embracing a work and a process not as a detached master of the craft, but fully married to my aesthetics and process.
