On Saturday, Oct. 13, the Space will host the community Fall Music & Arts Festival. The festival will begin at 2 pm, and run until midnight. Admission is $5 for the day, and the proceeds will go to benefit the Red Cross and World Trade Center Disaster Relief.

The festival will have an eclectic cross-section of music, film, and performances, with something for every taste. Additionally, paintings created by community artists and kids will be on display.

In the theatre:

For the Love of a Woman (Tom Eaton � trumpet, Nouri Zander � Guitar) present their loving, percussive blend of monster music. 3 pm

Flip plays guitar and sings. 3:40

Full Tank girls electronica 4:30

Joe Jones sings heartfelt tunes 5:20

that poet n-nem (Iris Lewis � poetry, Emak McKenith � vocals, Frank Keely � sound fx, guitar) with their version of r�n�b and poetry 6:00

Linda Draper soothing folk singer goes on at 7:00

The Beggar�s Group with their stellar play �Stopping the World� 8:00

Little Monstah synthesizes dance and music right in front of your face. 8:40

In the film room:

We have opened up a new room for film screening. All day long in the film room there will be movies, with the opportunity for open screening. Bring your own film on VHS format!

Also in the Film room:

Smoke! Strobe! Watch out for the Import Notice Project � a near future techno Kabuki cabaret. Featuring: (Koki Uneno � voice, Shime Okuyama � music, Naoyuki Yoshida � film). Dance your heart out. (7 pm)

Hard Kore Kumite Association, the goriest of the hard core! America�s favorite pastime. All title-bouts, caged death matches. (8 pm)

(King Famous, Mr. Clown, others to be announced)

In addition to all of this, we have a punk rock/metal show scheduled across the street under the Parking Garage. This show is included in the price of admission. MTV will be recording the event and broadcasting it live online. A Surprise Celebrity from UPN Channel 9 will host the event. 15 bands are scheduled to play. The Salvation Army will provide food and refreshments.

Finally, a variety of events will be taking place in The Space parking lot all throughout the day. Depending on the weather, paintings will be shown on the perimeter of the area.

Directions:

Take the E,F,G, or Q (formally R) trains to Queens Plaza. Take the Jackson Ave. exit. The Space is located at the intersection of Queens Plaza West and Jackson Ave. It is surrounded by a large chain link fence and a big parking lot.
