2000-07-15

there's enough sugar in my tea for about five more cups. I figure if i don't stir it too much, I can use the sugar in later brewings. im at work, and i just talked to wonderful cindy for about an hour and a half. all the way from our country' midwest. About what, you ask? Well, that's between me and her, and you weren't there, so thptpt!

James Brown is doing "Sex Machine", and i couldn't feel more groovy if i tried. Bouncing around in my expensive office chair.

It's been 6 days since i updated this diary. Unfortunately ive been completely tired every time i try and write, wiped out by work. Or Maybe Fortunately; after all, it does feel good to have one's day full of Something, and to fall asleep at a normal hour.

I think its better to not think about whether or not you are wasting your young years. Because, in a way, we are all wasting away our youth. that's what its there for. That's the nature of it, to dry up, to disappear.

The problem is in whether or not we get upset over it, dwell over it.

Scott and i went out last nite, and we hit three bars. at the first, we chilled and discussed deep thoughts. Two Maker's Marks, straight. At the second, we watched a cowgirl bartender dance-stomp to the Charlie Daniels Band on the bar. The crowd hooted and hollared, and so did we. Scott fell into a discussion with a guy to the right barstool about Ween's country album. I fell into my thoughts and my Sierra Nevada. Then we had an intermission where we went home for more money.

In a rare display of what i guess i could call "clowning around," Scott insisted that we change outfits. He had these sleak tight long-sleave shirts that made us both look like players on a long losing streak. But it was all in good fun. We found this bar on avenue C that was perfect for the outfits. All the people were dancing. Nearly no one was sitting anywhere. Happy guys and girls sweeping around the floor to a brazilian, south american, merengue, salsa generic potpurri. Everyone was virile and full of suggestive glances. As if to say:

"maybe you could be the one..."

Apparantly i missed out on my chance to meet the two lonely looking girls who were sitting near us, glancing at us; in the time it took me to stand in line at the bathroom.

Then Scott and I just danced with each other, drawing laughter and smiles.

And soon the night proved to win out once again and we headed home (too late for me to go to queens, i stayed on his couch and we watched video taped episodes of the long-forgotten Jon Stewart Show. Wonderful)

by the way, tom, i think you should go to this bar and show off your salsa lessons.

and tom, sorry i missed your party, i didn't read my email until just now. and come to think of it, melissa told me about it earlier. i just forgot.

ive got some calls to make, for work. today 'm going to see x-men. boy's fantasy merry mutant mahem hits the big screen. blahdy- blah-dee- dee!
